Since 1995, InsideOut Literary Arts has cultivated the literary and academic skills of Detroit’s students through transformative creative writing programs. Their in-school programming pairs Writers-in-Residence with Detroit schools where they teach poetry classes once a week for the entire school year. Their after-school high school level programming, Citywide Poets, allows participants to take a more intensive approach to written poetry as well as performance.
I worked with InsideOut for nine years, serving as their graphic designer and publication coordinator.

Publications
While at InsideOut I managed the annual publication process: a book of student poetry and art was created for each school we were in, usually around 30 schools per year. I worked with the writers-in-residence, a team of volunteer graphic designers and our printer to make sure we hit all of our deadlines and got all of the students their publications before they left for summer break. I also designed about 7 books a year myself. Here are a few of my favorites!
